Product returns - end of life
Important information for the correct treatment and recycling of electronic equipment
There are now strict rules governing safe end-of-life disposal of electrical or electronic products bought in the European Union from August 13 2005.
The EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is one of a series of 'producer responsibility’ Directives that makes EU producers of new equipment pay for the recycling and/or safe treatment and disposal of the products they put on the market when they eventually come to be thrown away. Any business that manufactures, brands or imports electrical or electronic products is known as a ‘producer’ and is affected. Businesses selling electrical items or storing, treating or dismantling WEEE are affected. The legislation applies to household and non-household products.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, where you find it printed on certain products or their packaging, indicates that the product must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and should be processed separately. As a user of such products, you are responsible for returning them to an authorised collection facility set up by your local council (which can provide you with information about your nearest collection facility).
But, if you are replacing an old product with a new equivalent product from Liberator we are required to take your old product back free of charge for safe disposal (or direct you to the nearest recycling point), as long as the new product is of an equivalent type and fulfils the same functions as your old product. If you wish to use this service, please use the form provided.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment must be treated separately to ensure that any hazardous materials contained inside the equipment are not buried, creating future environmental or health problems. In addition, some parts may be reused or recycled. Please play your part in protecting our world through responsible treatment and recycling.
Liberator's WEEE registration number is WEE/EH0196VQ. If you wish to send a product back for disposal, please complete the Liberator WEEE returns form.
