What is AQLS?
- AQLS is a Pathfinder-only program
- AQLS stands for Adult Quick Learning System
- An AlphaBetic version uses an enhanced QWERTY keyboard plus quick-access single-hit words and phrases
- An Iconic version, based on Unity 128, combines the power of Unity with more single-hit words and phrases
- Provides quick access to 250 of the most common words and phrases, reducing the keystrokes required to use the program

Who can use AQLS?
- Adults with communication-related disabilities, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other degenerative diseases
- Adults who want to use a spelling system plus Word Prediction can benefit specifically from the Alphabetic version
- With as little as one hour of instruction, an individual can become familiar with AQLS alphabetic
How do Unity and AQLS compare?
- Unity 128 Sequenced and AQLS Iconic are almost identical. The difference is that AQLS Iconic includes extra single-hit words
- AQLS Alphabetic uses a word-based overlay with a QWERTY spelling keyboard, enhanced by word prediction; Unity 128 uses icon sequences
- AQLS Alphabetic can be learned within an hour by someone who can spell; Unity 128 takes longer because it uses images rather than letters
- AQLS Alphabetic requires an individual to be able to read and write; Unity 128 does not
